We are seeking an ambitious Assistant Cost Manager to join our team on the National Grid Great Grid Partnership (GGP) framework. This is a highprofile, nationally significant energy infrastructure programme, playing a vital role in strengthening and futureproofing the UK’s electricity network.

Role Responsibilities

  • Proven ability to provide effective administrative support within a commercial or finance team.
  • Experience ensuring accurate cost coding across plant and material requisitions and purchase orders.
  • Competent in generating and maintaining system accruals for material deliveries and plant hire.
  • Ability to process and complete timesheets for weekly paid resources accurately and to deadlines.
  • Experience performing general accounts administration duties, including data entry and record management.
  • Confident user of finance and accounts systems, with a sound understanding of purchase ledger processes.
  • Ability to support the production of key financial reports, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.

 

Skills, Experience and Qualifications

  • Experience using finance or accounts systems, with a solid understanding of purchase ledger processes.
  • Experience with COINS, or similar construction or commercial management systems
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel
  • Excellent planning, organisation, and timemanagement skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Confident contributing across multiple projects, sites, or operational areas
  • Strong written communication, with welldeveloped analytical and problemsolving skills.
  • High attention to detail, with a commitment to maintaining standards and meeting specifications.
  • Proven ability to collaborate with colleagues to support project delivery and operational performance.

About the Energy Business Unit

We have extensive experience in upgrading and replacing energy networks, delivering asset management for major UK energy companies and network operators.

Our transmission and distribution services involve the upgrading and replacement of electricity assets both above and below ground. Within the electricity sector we install and maintain assets, including excavation, laying, and jointing of cables, (fluid filled and XLPe), substations and overhead line, new build, repair, and refurbishment services.
